The University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for the Director, Mississippi Polymer Institute, in the School of Polymers and High Performance Materials (SPHPM). The position has overall responsibility for the direction and leadership of the Mississippi Polymer Institute to achieve its mission of growth, technical support, and workforce education for the polymer industry in Mississippi.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Support of the Mississippi polymer industry through technical service, testing, and training. Assist the State in efforts to attract new industry. Provide support for existing Mississippi businesses, start-ups, and entrepreneurial activities. Perform collaborative research with SPHPM. Training of industry personnel, SPHPM students, Community College partners, and high school outreach.

Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering; five to ten years of experience in the polymer/polymer composites industry preferred; excellent communication skills; team leadership and management experience; and contract negotiation experience.
